This is a time of year where we are reminded to be thankful for all the blessings we have from God which may include health, prosperity, friendships, family, etc. But what about the loss or losses you may have experienced this past year? Perhaps you recently lost a job or experienced a divorce. Some of you may have experienced a major set back with health the loss of a loved one or family member, or friend.
To lose a parent or sibling is difficult, but to lose a child is so difficult. I know of several people who have experienced this and the grief is still real. A loss and grief that is indescribable unless you have been through this experience yourself.
“Jesus wept” is the shortest verse John 11:35; but speaks volumes of God’s love, compassion, grief, comfort, and understanding for you.
During these times of crisis, this can be a challenge to your faith. The ‘Why?” How could this ever happen to me? The enduring pain of grief that comes like the ocean waves over you in moments of a small memory with that loved one or friend. In spite of all of what may have happened the Lord wants you and I to trust Him in these difficult times. Even in the most difficult of days. God teaches us to be thankful even when life sucks! He reminds us of the good times and the gift He gave you when your friend, family, son or daughter were here on earth. I was reminded how life is vain and empty without a personal relationship with the Lord. The hope and assurance of heaven for those in Christ who God gives us a promise of the resurrection of hope.
To trust God takes faith beyond our own reasoning and releasing everything into the hands of a loving heavenly Father so our hearts are not troubled, even in times of deep sorrow. To be thankful in all circumstances to God no matter how difficult your situation you may be experiencing will make you a stronger, better person not bitter or angry. God’s nature and character is good in spite of the losses we experience.
"In every circumstance be thankful for this is the will of God concerning you in Christ Jesus"
This is an act of our will and net necessarily our feelings.
My prayer for you today is to let go, release, and trust God completely and that you may be filled with the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen, and comfort you today and the days to come.
