How many times have you heard this phrase in your life time? Most of us can remember when we went to the shoe store and they sized up our feet with that silver and black flat foot measure.
Today you’re lucky to see one in a store because dress shoes are not in fashion like it used to be.
After trying on the shoes you buy the first time you wear them they just dont fit and seem to be very tight. We were convinced they fit because we liked the style and it was the last pair in the store. You justify keeping them thinking you might break them in after a couple of times.
Too often, we are tempted to try to fit into somebody elses mould. We are subtley controlled, coerced, or even manipulated to justify that it will work out. We do this to fit into the crowd, school, the workplace, or with family, friends or even church.
Lets face it, it’s not working out, yet you may be convincing yourself I can get through this. Maybe you’re living under a lot of guilt, because you need the job, you want to be friends, you’re struggling with some bad habits and you sure do not want to be lonely.
Well its time to stand up for yourself and be yourself. People need to accept and respect you for who you are, even if they don’t agree with you and you are struggling. You don’t deserve to be controlled, manipulated, labeled, judged, or abused which can happen emotionally, and not just physically. Some people even use the Bible or religion to beat you down!
God created us for His good pleasure and says that we are the ‘apple of His eye’. God’s love is never ending for us and will accept us where we are at. People are weird, and at times different. God knows our heart and He made each of us to be different. We don’t need to be boxed in or generic like the same cookie cutter. Be yourself and not somebody else. You don’t need to be a slave to fear and worry about what others think.
“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Romans 8:15 NLT
God’s wraps His love around many different moulds, sizes, shapes, colors, races, etc. because one size does not fit all. God even adopts us as His own even when we may feel abandoned or rejected. If you keep trying to convince yourself that the shoe fits, yet you’re feet are sore and in pain and your not happy or do not ‘fit in’ then it’s time to take the shoes off and rest your feet and be the person who God called you, and created you to be.
Once your feet are rested, then find the best comfortable pair of shoes that make you shine, look your best, and feel good do it for the Lord and yourself.
Have a great day my friend and just do it!
